November 30th ~ On The Wall

I like birds.  I liked them before they were fashionable.  Before they were on every nick-nack available.  My parents gifted Paul and I this for our second (or maybe third?) Christmas and I
L-O-V-E, LOVE it.  I like birds. They are on my wall.

November 29th ~ BIG

These kids are getting so big. They used to be small, tiny even.  Now they
play together, solve their own conflicts (occasionally), and have been discovered
making play date plans all on their own.  Too big.  Too fast.
(Not pictured: Mr. Busy who was moving too much to be photographed, and T-Babe who just wanted to eat his sweet potatoes.)

November 28th ~ Vehicle

I made Paul a shirt that has roadways, houses, a park and a swimming pool drawn on the back.  When he's had a killer day, but still wants to hang out with the babies, he can throw on his shirt and lay on the floor while the girls play 'cars' on his back.  I was going for functional.

November 27th ~ Tree

I'm cheating.  I have two photos for this idea.
The first is Percy.  He is the owl that sits in a tree in my girls' room and glows a certain color when it's ok for them to come out in the morning.   My children were conducting a sleep deprivation study.  Percy was the solution.
My Mom made her kids this book last Christmas.  It has letters my Papa Joe wrote my Grandma during WW2, pictures of them from grade school, etc.  AWESOME!  My family tree:

November 26th ~ In The Cupboard

We don't really eat marshmallows and yet, every time I see some new fun color/flavor/shape I always seem to buy them thinking 'My girls will really love these'.  And they do, the two or three
times a year we eat them.

November 25th ~ Sky

New Mexico has some of the most lovely skies I have ever seen.  On a clear day the blue is so deep and pure it's amazing.  I just wish I had a picture of the sunrise this morning...at 6am.  I wasn't quite lucid enough to remember my photo assignments, hence this shot.

November 24th ~ A Sound I Heard

She's unavoidable.  You can't NOT hear her.  She is the bane of all ears who enter our home.  She likes me.  She will probably hate you. She also hates my camera and tried to kill it after I took this picture.  Please forgive her busted and molted appearance.  She has motherhood issues.
(Fingers were not harmed in the making of this post.)

November 23rd ~ Black

I don't like black; it's not colorful enough.  BUT, I like this hat and it kind of expresses
Talon's life esthetic.

November 22nd ~ Grateful

I am grateful for a husband who loves his children and a big sister who is always eager to help.

November 21st ~ What You Wore

A certain top model host always advises models to 'know their angles'.  I have learned
that my best angle is behind the camera.  My husband also never thinks to pick up a camera when I'm dolled up.  This is the only photo that has been taken of me in at least 3 months.  Lovely.

I wore a red shirt, glasses, and baby food.

November 10th ~ Work/Play

This precious baby is both. The Lord designed her to be irresistibly adorable because
we NEEDED her to be!
(The lovely purple mark in between her eyes is long-wear lipstick.  It took 1 week, three tubbies, two attempts with makeup remover, and a couple darn good scrubbings to get it off.  Needless to say I have thrown said purple lipstick away. We don't have to address why I had purple lipstick in the first place...)

November 19th ~ Something Awesome

Years ago I threw Paul a Super-Man party and made a Super-Man Build-A-Bear.  Talon didn't like it; not one bit. This is his fussy face. Granted, it was a little snug...

November 18th ~ Happened This Weekend

I had better photos, but my babes were not fully clothed.  Does anyone else, other than my Sister and I, let their kids regularly run about with their nakey on?
We put up our Christmas tree!  I have an entire collection of beautiful champagne, ivory and gold ornaments, ribbons, lights and other decorations.  This year we opted for colored lights and all the Christmas ornaments my Mama and Daddy have gifted the babes and I for the last 29 years.

November 17th ~ Last Thing You Bought

I'm running a little behind so today is officially 'Catch Up Day!"  Hooray for CUD!!! (hehe, a little cow humor there...)

I bought dollar store glasses with grand plans of painting them.  Lillian was obviously worried someone would want to steal my amazing works of art, and wrote on them to make sure everyone would know they were ours.  I'll do another post in a bit on how to re-purpose glasses with permanent marker scribbles.

Gomez Thanksgiving

1.  Tend to post-feverish child in early AM.
2.  Early wake-up call from chillin's who think sleep is SOOOO 5 years ago.
3.  Begin Thanksgiving side dish preparations...after cleaning a wreck of a kitchen.
4.  Scrape hole in bottom of pumpkin that will be used as a serving dish.
5. Allow children to 'clean dishes' in kitchen sink unattended...don't ever do that...like, ever.
6.  Clean up aftermath of child labor.  Use two towels, a pair of socks, and an old long-sleeve shirt.
7. Get half-way through stuffing preparations and realize we don't drink wine, and therefor have no way to open newly-purchased wine bottle for de-glazing.  Send husband to neighbors to borrow one.
8. Be thankful we rescued neighbors' tiny puppy from cruel outdoors, and therefor have a relationship in which we can borrow things.
9.  While waiting for bottle-opener, decide to peel potatoes, break the only peeler in the house.  Regret deciding against buying a new one the day before.
10.  Be thankful for tiny orange pairing knife.
11.  Have several close calls with said knife and delicate finger tips.
12.  Run sides over to Mom's house and pick up Thanksgiving fixings to take back home to post-fever family.
13.  Panic when child has a possible reaction to pecans and scramble to find children's benadryl.
14.  Decide, against my own instincts...don't ever do that either... to join family for Thanksgiving celebrations.
15.  Watch child spread eagle across the pavement as she dances in joy at being able to see her Honi after all.
16.  Enjoy awesome family and friends.
17.  Return home, fall asleep in children's room, stay up way to late watching a show with hubs.  Too early wake up call from children who think sleep is SOOOO 5 years and a day ago.
18.  Call doctor to schedule appointment for strep swabs after two children complain of sore throats during breakfast...after possibly infecting every person at Family Thanksgiving ... and their much-loved babies.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!  Bring on Christmas!!!

Observations

When Lillian paints she uses large, free-handed strokes with whatever color is nearest. She mixes colors and swirls her strokes together on the project. Her paint pallet is smeared with paint and all the colors are swirled together. She has nary a spot on her hands.

When Wren paints she gets a specific color and methodically puts that color in one spot. Her creations have gobs of color paired with large spaces of white. Her plate still has it's color mostly in the original spot, although slightly speckled with flecks of other colors. It's also in her hair, and in her ears.

When Talon paints...just kidding. I'm not that crazy.

November 16th ~ The View from my Window

My husband (see post for November 14th) also built our babies a swing set, a play house, a sand box (He sifted the rocks in our backyard to get silky smooth sand), and has redone our grass three times thanks to 'my' dogs.  He's great, and so is our backyard.

November 15th ~ In Your Bag

This was my favorite assignment so far.  It was also the grossest.  I'm a Mama of three, so I claim that as my excuse for having two open bags of candy, four pairs of sunglasses, a spatula, four paci's, five different packs of cleaning wipes, a tic tac, two used kleenex', and a myriad of other random and incredibly useful items.  And guess what?  I still have two pockets left to empty!

November 14th ~ Man-Made

My husband is an amazing Hoss of a Man.  He put most of our backyard together.  He put the fence together, including the concrete base of bricks that keeps our dogs BEHIND the fence.  He replaced tons of rock and a particularly poky plant with lush grass and split and lay the flagstone (and carried it) all by himself.  Did I mention the sprinkler system he put together beneath it all?  He also built a dog kennel to protect our dogs from inclement weather.  And you know why he did it?  Because he's awesome.  And because I wanted it.  What can I say?  He loves me.

November 13th ~ Where You Slept

We've been playing 'tent' a lot lately.  It isn't where I actually slept, but we pretend to sleep
 in here A LOT.

A Glimpse

I'll have photos posted soon, no worries, but I thought I'd share a glimpse of the daily communications between my Hubsters and I.  My husband works in an office much of the day and I capitilize on that by sending him emails regularly.  Some are silly, some are stressed out, others are just to tell him what's for dinner.  It's my way to include him in our day-to-day and not bother him with a phone call that he has to commit to.  Seriously, if our phone call gets interrupted I just hang up and he can call me when he's done.  I hate being on hold!  This is one of the emails I sent him today.  Just a glimpse:

Thursday, 9.30am
A few things...

1. Totally no worries, but let me know if your parents ARE coming (if you have time)
2. I'd like to go to Walgreens and get my flu shot and whooping cough
3. I think it would be way fun to focus on fitness for the next month. If you want to take some guaranteed time in the evening to work out, that's fine with me. If you go before dinner you can punch the bag. It would be fun to show up at Christmas and be so much more fit, huh? How 'bout it? Mon-Fri work out?
4. I love the way Talon squeals when he's playing. He's so cute, I could squish him little bits.
5. There was hardly anyone at the pool today, I wish it was like that all the time.
6. L is a little fussy and W is a little mischievous. I expected as much and our plan is to hang out at the house, watch signing times, and paint.
7. Apparently the secret to solving poor bedtime behavior is going to the zoo all morning, not napping, and eating a giant thanksgiving dinner. Things to know...
8. Did you take all the leftovers, or just one box?
9. I hope you can get some work done today, so I won't be writing much more, I just wanted to say I love you a couple of times. I like you. Do you like me? Circle Yes or No.
10. I plan on making myself some coffee. Very, very rich. With some sugar.
11. The girls are in this kick of throwing things. At people, in the air, (at puppies...AhumWren!) I find myself not minding and keep thinking, 'Wow! Their arm is getting really good!' ...I'm such a sports nut. It's confirmed. I shall practice not yelling at other parents or referees, so when the opportunity arises, I can keep my hyper-competitive mouth closed.

I did 11 things because of your birthday...and because there were 11 things...And because I love you...Do you love me? Circle Yes or No.

November 12th ~ Drink

Have you ever hosted a party and grossly over-estimated your soda needs?
Yes.  We have remnants of what looks like a Y2K soda-stash...

November 11th ~ Night

It's about night OK?

Strawberry Shortcake & Vanilla Icin' (Angel Cake's pet lamb...just watch the show)
My Munchable Lobster in a Pot.  Delish!...In retrospect, he looks more like a Muppet when you can't see his claws, tail, and legs...Does the butter help?

November 10th ~ Something I Won't Do Without

Holla' Mamas!

November 9th ~ Small

This little lady is definitely small.  When we first brought her home she barely tipped the scale at 3lbs.  She now registers a hefty 6 lbs.
The sweater she is wearing is even smaller, hence the disapproving look of betrayal.

November 8th ~ Something I Do Everyday

Hehe, Ok,  Maybe not EVERY day (but close to it)

How about this.  I definitely do this every day...Cook!

November 7th ~ Reflection

A year ago, on November 7th, we were at the San Diego Wildlife Park.  SOOOO fun!  We are looking forward to going back when the babes are older.

November 6th ~ Favorite

Best. Burger. Ever.
I like mine with mayo, ketchup and tomato. Curious how others like their 'Five Guys'.

November 5th ~ 5 o'clock

At 5 o'clock this morning I was getting my swim breakfast together.

(Disclaimer: Swim breakfast is not to be confused with first or second breakfast.  It is a meal entity all it's own and does not negate the need for either of the former breakfast profiles.)

November 4th ~ TV

The Voice
(We don't watch a lot of TV, so we create our own entertainment)

November 3rd ~ Breakfast

November 2nd ~ Color

Pink

Things to Remember

I forgot my towel today.  At the Pool.  MY TOWEL.  Was NOT at the Pool.  It seems like the most basic thing, next to my swimsuit of course.  Wow, things to remember.

Secondly, I am a terrible blogger.  Or maybe a terrific non-blogger.  Either way, I am an awful, terrible, no-good, very bad blogger who can't seem to discipline herself to sit down for a few minutes a day and put down a few words.

Not one to forgo the rules of threes, I have also done a very poor job at posting my November photos.  But, prepare yourself for a photo-palooza! That is all.

1st

Carnations

My hubby sometimes brings these home for his girls.  I trim mine and put it in water, the girls spend 1/2 an hour shredding theirs.  This could also be filed under 'counters'.  Which you can actually see.  Which is not normal.

I Will..

Be doing this all month.  Fun idea, right?!
