Sleep Project #1

I am calling these the sleep projects. Mostly because you need sleep to feel like completing them. Have I mentioned lately that I think sleep is wonderful? (Not in the sluggard sort of way, at least not that I know of. Mostly just the functioning sort of sleep. Functional sleep is a marvelous gift from our Lord... have I mentioned Wren has been mostly sleeping through the night?)

The Objective (Should I choose to complete it): Re-upholster our awful dining table chairs! I had some inexpensive green plaid that I chose to cover 3 of the 6 seats. For fear of being matchy-matchy-green-squared, I'm currently on the lookout for other patterns/colors/options that can cover my other 3. Give me a holla' if you have any ideas!

Ahhh Sleep,

how I've missed you so! Today I was stirred from slumber a only few minutes before 7am. Is this what a full 8 hours feels like? Let me tell you, it's been a while, and it feels great! Although, I find I'm in the same state of semi-delirium. Before it was simply sleep-deprived survival mode, the kind Lillian gets when she's REALLY tired and seems to kick her energy level into overdrive just to keep herself awake. Now it's an 'anything is possible' sort of giddy dementia. I found myself planning early trips to the zoo, short adventures to the bosque (a bird reserve a few hours away that would require us to wake at 4am), and reconsider the possibly insane move of housing all four of us in one small cabin at Horn Creek this summer. What?! 'You just got your sleep back and you're planning ways to destroy said sleep?! Are you crazy?!', I hear you say. Yes. It took me a few minutes to see the ludicrous bent of such ramble-icious thoughts. I think I'll plan to start smaller, like finishing a craft project. And yes, ramble-icious is not a word. But since I'm claiming insanity for a number of reasons this morning, I'm going to allow it.

Shall I Tell All?

I must confess that time to sit down and blog peacefully has been somewhat sparse these past few months. Our lives have become blissfully demanding as we deal with the onset of the 'pleasant personality two's' and all that comes with a colicky, gassy, teething, wakeful and adorably irresistible baby. Life is rich with abundant blessings and learning lessons on patience. I have learned to nurse a baby and position a preschooler on the potty at the same time, push a grocery cart, hold a paci, dispense juice and goldfish crackers, as well as price compare aquarium water treatments all at the same time, and even now I am bouncing my precious, motion-only consolable teething 5 month old with my foot while trying to verbally account for my lack of blogging presence. Yes, even my sentences hold an air of exhaustion (and a serious lack of proper punctuation). But primary blame for exhaustion in this case is the very real and detrimental fact that I have slept only 8 hours in the last 48+ due to teething, colds, nightmares, and I hate to admit it, even snoring (although less on my part than on my handsome bed mate). God is so good. I have two precious darling baby girls, a madly sexy, God-fearing hubby-Man, and so many other blessings. I am drenched in a variety of all things wonderful. So, to make a long post even longer, I appreciate your grace in understanding life is on the edge of beautifully crazy. And while I sense Paul may be growing tired of returning from work to a home of near-tears females, I feel we are near a turning point. That point either being a more sleep, smoothly running, new normal; or the deep end of giving in to familial chaos. (at least until these lovely ladies are in school. And that brings me to our plans on homeschooling...)
